According to police, the student had words with the bus driver on the ride home around 3 p.m. and threatened to shoot them, said Capt. Rich Conklin.
The department declined to say which school the teen attended.
"We have to be very hyper-vigilant with this type of behavior, especially in light of recent events," said Conklin.
Although the teen didn't have the means to carry out the threat, police said it was serious enough to take action.
The teen was charged with threatening and breach of peace and released to the custody of his parents.
